Te Anau Poem

Te Anau was a usual enough: It had

Shops, a lake, a park, a bridge, and

lots of hiking tracks.

My brother, friends, and I

did what kids do – we raced to the

swing, fought over the flying fox,

went biscuiting and tried to push each

other off, hiked through the bushes

and made campfires, pretending that

we were stranded

Doing nothing important
